Your Visit: how to find us, who the scheme is for, facilities, useful links.
Your Visit.
'Reach the Beach' wheelchair scheme operates on West Beach in West Bay Dorset, a beautiful family beach with ramps for easy access ( see maps below).

Our Volunteers will be there when you pick up your chair, they can offer help and advice, but are not responsible for any manual handling.

As the wheelchairs are manual, they will need to be operated by a family member, friend or carer. We strongly recommend chairs should be managed by two people.

About You.
‘Reach the Beach’ is open to residents and to visitors, to individuals, families looking after someone, care groups, schools, in short, anyone with mobility difficulties that would love to spend time on the beach, to reach the sea shore, or to experience the delight of being in the sea.

Facilities and Toilets.
There are 'Changing Places' facilities at the Parkdean Resort, and at the Station Yard car park.
(see map below)

We have a mobile hoist, and a height-adjustable, adult length changing table.
Please bring your own sling.

The closest disabled parking spaces are at the Esplanade car park, behind West Beach, and at The Mound car park.
